Maya became a certified Dare to Lead™ Facilitator (CDTLF) in 2019.
Dare to Lead™ is a leadership development program based on the research of Brené Brown, author and researcher known for her work on vulnerability, courage, shame, and empathy. The program translates her research into practical, teachable skills for leaders and teams.
Brown's central thesis is that courage is a collection of four skill sets that can be observed, learned and measured .
The Four Skill Sets:
- Rumbling with Vulnerability – Leaning into uncertainty, risk, and emotional exposure rather than armoring up against it.
- Living into Our Values – Identifying core ovalues and translating them into observable behaviors.
- Braving Trust – Building and maintaining trust on teams through specific, actionable components (DTL uses the acronym BRAVING: Boundaries, Reliability, Accountability, Vault, Integrity, Nonjudgment, Generosity).
- Learning to Rise – Developing resilience and the ability to reset after failure, setback, or hard feedback.
